The Acting President of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Jonathan has placed security services in Plateau and neighbouring states on Red Alert to check the spread of the latest crisis to other states.
Security services have also been directed to employ strategies that would stop the violence.
The Acting President is expected to meet with the leadership of the country’s security services on the situation.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ogbonnaya Onovo has already briefed the Acting President on the situation.
While sympathizing with those who have lost loved ones in the attack, Dr Jonathan urged Nigerians to remain peaceful and law abiding.
The Plateau State Government says a mass burial would be held for the over five hundred people killed at the weekend in an attack at Dogo Nahawa in Shen village of Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
The State Commissioner for Information, Gregory Yenlong stated this while briefing newsmen in Jos.
